PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna's CSR Program Receives Award from Acting Mayor of Bekasi for Managing Organic Kitchen Waste

Bekasi, June 26, 2023 - The Bekasi City Government awarded PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna (BAg), part of the Subholding of PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia, for the Company's CSR program towards the Environment, namely Kitchen Organic Waste Management with BSF (Black Soldier Fly) Maggot Cultivation by developing the Joglo Larva Center. The award was given directly by the Acting Mayor of Bekasi, Dr. Tri Adhianto Tjahyono at the Socialization event for the 1000 BSF Maggot Cages Program in Bekasi City on Tuesday, June 26, 2023. The event was also attended by the Head of the Bekasi City Environmental Service, Sub-district Heads, Village Heads, RW representatives and community activists managing organic waste through maggot cultivation.

This is clear evidence that PT BAg's CSR program, the Joglo Larva Center, can serve as a model for addressing waste issues in Bekasi City. Tri Susanto, BAg's President Director, separately stated that "BAg's CSR initiatives are expected to serve as a foundation or foundation for community development, particularly in waste management."

Regarding the Maggot cultivation program, Acting Mayor of Bekasi, Dr. Tri Adhianto Tjahyono explained that the Bekasi City government will strive consistently in helping develop this organic waste management business. "We will help develop what already exists, such as Maggot cultivation that allows it to be distributed to end users and the development of product sales that were originally sold raw can now be sold in dry form, even now in the form of pellets for farmers who need it, besides that we will also seek solutions to every development problem," said Tri Adhianto (26/06).

PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna's CSR program on organic waste management through BSF Maggot cultivation in the past year has grown very rapidly. It is recorded that more than 1200 families have sorted waste and every month more than 18 tons of household waste can be managed with maggots. "Within one year, the community participation has increased by more than 500% and currently there are 20 RWs that have formed organic waste management communities through Maggot cultivation," added Mulyanto as the Person in Charge of Joglo Larva Center. Joglo Larva Center is able to become a magnet for environmental observers to learn about waste management. Not only from Bekasi but also from various regions outside Bekasi, West Java and other provinces to learn.

Aditya Yudanto, a representative of PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna, as Corporate Secretary, warmly welcomed the appreciation and recognition bestowed by the Acting Mayor of Bekasi. He expressed his hope that the Joglo Larva Center could be replicated elsewhere, and that its spirit would resonate with many others on a larger scale. "If you want to learn about community-based waste management, Bekasi and this place are the right place," he concluded.
